Fewer Than Half of Companies Adding IT Headcount

Curated by Paul Helmick

I’m a Technology CEO and Experienced Entrepreneur. I love helping people use technology to grow their business.

  • Fewer than half (46%) of all companies are planning to increase IT headcount, and 19% are planning to actually cut staffing levels
  • The mix of IT staffing is consistent with the largest portion, 25% dedicated to application development and maintenance, the next largest portion of staff is IT managers, representing 10% of IT personnel, and help desk workers at 9%
  • The decline is due to several factors, because economic uncertainty impacts IT spending, and the increasing use of virtualization and automation tools improve data-center staff productivity as well as the shifting of data-center workloads to the cloud.
