WordPress Plugin Test: Embedly > Jing Screencast

Posted by Paul Helmick

I’m a Technology CEO and Experienced Entrepreneur. I love helping people use technology to grow their business.

The first test of Embedly parsing a one line YouTube URL worked great.

I learned that the plug-in did not work with my WordPress CKEditor plugin – CKEditor was a more advanced WYSIWIG editor for posts – giving me a bit more control over the HTML layout, etc – but in order for the post to be processed for all the different embedded links – I had to go back to the default TinyMCE editor.  I was pleasantly surprised to find out that over the past 6 months that several improvements have been made to the default WordPress post editor – so I don’t feel like I lost any functionality as of yet.

I use a free screencasting tool called Jing – that is just fantastic at letting me drag a box out on part of my screen and capturing either a snapshot of the screen or recording an audio/video screencast of that portion of the screen – then with one click – saving it to the web and giving me a shortlink to share with people.  Check it out – It’s a great tool for communicating with your team, your partners or your clients – it can also save the video up to YouTube – a fantastic free tool.

Here is a screencast I made the other day and shared with the Google Apps team regarding a concern I had about how they unified logins for their paid Google Apps users and their free personal Gmail accounts.  I was told by Google in their response that the short video really helped them clarify the issue and get me connected with the resolution I was looking for.
